In more than 40 years of worldwide communications, Joe Ledlie has built a reputation as the articulate voice of effective communications strategy. He is the only nationally honored newsman heading an Atlanta public relations firm. 

“We specialize in things we’ve never done before,” he says.

Known as the small firm with the big client list, The Ledlie Group specializes in unusually sensitive projects, ranging from large-tract developments to headline court cases and protracted corporate contests.

Lawyers like Ledlie. He has advised attorneys across the country on CEO ousters, union control, zoning fights, environmental problems, and campaign-financing indictments. He also has worked in the creation of brand, IPO, and ownership issues.

He is an owner-member of the Public Relations Global Network of 40 independent firms operating on six continents. He currently serves as treasurer of the organization.

A college instructor early on, he was city editor of the Savannah Morning News, an editor of The Atlanta Journal, and a correspondent for The Washington Post, the Detroit News and news operations in the United States and the United Kingdom. As a scriptwriter for international television, he authored “The Sea,” which won an Emmy from the Atlanta Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. His print journalism won prizes from Columbia University, the Associated Press, and the Society of Professional Journalists.

Joe is a trustee of Trees Atlanta and The Catholic Foundation, an honorary life member of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, and a founder of Leadership Sandy Springs in suburban Atlanta. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta and Paul Harris Fellow; the Hibernian Society of Savannah (1812) and Leadership Atlanta. He is past chairman of the board of The Village of St. Joseph and of the Atlanta-Fulton County Library Foundation. He is a former president of the National Alumni Association of Spring Hill College, the Jesuit College of the South, and served as president of the Parish Council of Sacred Heart, the 125-year-old basilica in downtown Atlanta. 

Joe holds a B.A. in English from Spring Hill College and a master’s degree in English from Louisiana State University. He is a native of Savannah and lives with his wife, Kathy, in the Buckhead section of Atlanta. They have four grown children.
